If you already know the basics and how e-cigarettes work, you know that they need liquids to vaporize. The electronic cigarette is filled with an e-liquid, which heats up, vaporizes and becomes the vapor you inhale.

Anyone who wants to know more about the electronic cigarette or wonders if the vapor is really safe should definitely read the following. This article probably answers all the questions on the subject: What’s really inside an e-liquid.

Ingredients and structure of e-liquids

E-cigarette e-liquids are divided into 2 main sections: bases and additives. Depending on the desired properties, the mixing ratios in the liquid are modified in relation to each other.

– Bases for e-liquids: propylene glycol (PG), glycerol (VG), water (Aqua Bidest)

– Additives for liquids: Flavours, nicotine

Here is an example of 1 liter of e-liquid with 6mg/ml of nicotine and My-Tide flavor: 94.4 of the E-liquids are composed of bases.

The base of the liquid is composed as follows: 55% propylene glycol (PG), 35% vegetable glycerin (VG) 10% water (Aqua Bidest).

5.6 Liquid E is made up of additives including: 0.6% nicotine, and 5% My-Tide flavour.

Liquid e-ingredients in detail

The e-liquids contain either propylene glycol or PEG400 in the base, which ensure the transfer of taste.

1.2 Propylene glycol is approved in the EU as a food additive and is referred to as E1520. Propylene glycol is safe and is used in a variety of everyday products.

PEG400 is an equally non-toxic ingredient as propylene glycol and is mainly used as a substitute. These liquid ingredients can be found in foods and hygiene items used daily.

Glycerol (VG) is also a proven safe substance that is used in many food and health care products as well as medications. Glycerol is even found in children’s eye drops and toothpaste.

Glycerol is responsible for the amount, shelf life and vapor density in the e-liquid base.

Another basic ingredient of e-liquid is H2O Aqua Bidest, which is obtained from spring or tap water by a double distillation process. This laboratory grade water is free of any form of contamination and is completely harmless to health. This product is not suitable for consumption.

Aqua Bidest is responsible for the viscosity of the liquid. The higher the water content, the more liquid the e-liquid becomes. If the water content is lower, the liquid becomes more viscous.

– e-liquid additive: nicotine

Up to 3.6% of e-liquids may consist of nicotine. But you should keep in mind that there are also nicotine-free liquids. Research is still ongoing to determine whether nicotine is addictive or to what extent it is directly harmful to the body.

Many people think that the nicotine in regular cigarettes is the most harmful substance when you smoke.

In fact, however, there are thousands of other substances that are produced during combustion that cause disease.

E-fluids may contain nicotine, but they are free of all the toxic substances produced when tobacco burns in the filter cigarette.

For example, if you are used to absorbing a lot of nicotine while smoking, you can start with a high concentration of nicotine (18 mg/ml). This will certainly ease the transition from smoking to steam and you will be able to quit smoking.

If you want to free yourself from the annoying nicotine addiction, you can gradually reduce the nicotine content of the e-liquids and finally wean yourself off nicotine completely.

– e-Liquid Additive: Flavors

While there are many flavours that mimic the taste of regular cigarettes, liquids also offer many other flavours from all areas.

From sweet, fruit-flavoured liquids to well-known beverages, from coffee varieties and menthol e-liquids to special flavours such as cotton candy or pancakes, there is something for everyone. Even exotic flavours such as ham and rhubarb are possible.

Flavors are responsible for the smell and taste in the steam of the e-liquid.

The harmfulness of e-Liquids ingredients

All the ingredients used in the production of e-Liquids are not harmful to the human body. In fact, they are currently used in a wide range of household products, medications and foods used every day.

The fact that these ingredients are widely used does not mean that they cannot cause allergic reactions in vaporizers.

If you notice that you are allergic to one of the ingredients in the liquid, such as propylene glycol, you should not despair immediately, but first try alternative compositions with different levels in the liquid composition.

Steam is a much healthier alternative than tobacco. A great way to get away from ordinary cigarettes.
